WHO  ARE  WE?

Beach Baby's Doula Services, Inc. is the first company along the Grand Strand to offer professional Doula support to women during pregnancy, their baby’s birth, and postpartum. Along with basic support during these phases, Beach Baby’s offers an array of other services, such as counseling for successful breastfeeding, Wholistic Childbirth Education, a unique program of natural childbirth tutoring, specialized pregnancy and infant massage, yoga for pregnancy and children, and the kindest of baby nannies. We are also the only company in the area that offers professional training and support for Doulas and Baby Nannies.

Beach Baby's Doula Services, Inc was established by Mitra Homayounian and Pat Burrell, who together have more than 40 years of experience in the healing arts. Mitra is a certified Ayurvedic therapist, trained at the Chopra Institute, a certified yoga and meditation instructor, and a licensed massage therapist. Pat is a Registered Nurse, who has become an expert in maternal-child health after more than 20 years of experience. Pat directed the Maternal-Child Health program at VNA of Pennsylvania, and served as a health advisor for the Early Headstart Program, where she created the training criteria for non-medical support personnel for pregnant & new mothers and babies. This experience inspired Pat’s creation of the Wholistic Childbirth Education Program. Pat is also a trained lactation counselor and certified hypnotherapist. Both women are trained Doulas and have attended countless births.

Beach Baby’s Doula Services is comprised of a diverse team of extraordinarily talented women, with the multitude of skills and vast experiences necessary to take care of moms and babies throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. OUR  MISSION:

Our purpose at Beach Baby’s Doula Services is to provide the highest level of knowledge and awareness throughout pregnancy, the birth experience, and baby care, combined with the utmost of compassion and support possible to families during their experiences through these stages.  We believe that the services we provide support a healthier and happier family, and honor the role of each member. It is our goal to improve all outcomes for at-risk women and babies in this area as well, an area that has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the United States, by providing Doula services to those in need through our-nonprofit arm.

It is my belief is that childbirth is the most important and sacred moment in the lives of women, maybe even of babies, and is truly a “blessed event.” It certainly was for me. I birthed my own children in a truly beautiful and loving way, and breastfed them effortlessly until they weaned. Even as a nurse, exposed to unpleasant and unnatural births, I have the core belief that birth is NOT a ‘disease,’ but is rather a normal and natural part of life. I also believe that every birth is wonderful, and that however a couple chooses to celebrate it is exactly the right way for them and their family. This is the very CORE of our company's philosophy.

Our goal to assist women and their partners in making the most of the birth experience, wherever the location they choose, and with whatever doctor or midwife they select.
